NTU Singapore and the International Alliance on Brain Health, an initiative promoted by the Swiss Brain Health Foundation, have announced a new strategic partnership. The collaboration will support the development of a Singapore Brain Health Programme, connecting researchers in Singapore with more than 20 national brain health initiatives across five continents.

Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore), NHG Health and the Geriatric Education and Research Institute (GERI) have launched the Healthy Longevity Institute (HELI), a new S$25 million initiative dedicated to advancing healthy longevity.

The launch also marked the announcement of a new strategic partnership between NTU Singapore and the International Alliance on Brain Health (IABH), an initiative promoted by the Swiss Brain Health Foundation (SBHF) and led by Prof. Claudio Bassetti.

As part of the partnership, NTU Singapore will develop a Singapore Brain Health Programme, connecting researchers in Singapore with more than 20 national brain health initiatives across five continents, including Switzerland. The collaboration will support joint research, international knowledge exchange and access to global datasets.

HELI brings together clinical medicine, translational science, engineering, computational systems and the social sciences. Its work focuses on cognitive and mental health, physical health, and clinical and policy research, contributing to Singapore’s national commitment to healthy longevity.

The partnership strengthens the global network of the International Alliance on Brain Health and opens new opportunities for collaboration between Singapore and Switzerland, including initiatives promoted by SBHF and the wider USI-EOC ecosystem.

Prof. Claudio Bassetti, founding member of IABH, Rector of USI, member of the Board of Directors of EOC and Vice-President of the European Brain Council, commented:

“This partnership represents an important opportunity to strengthen international collaboration in brain health, mental health and longevity. I see particular potential for developing a strong collaboration between Switzerland and Singapore by connecting two highly innovative ecosystems with complementary expertise in neuroscience, medicine, technology, artificial intelligence, data science and the implementation of innovation in healthcare.”

The collaboration represents a further step in the development of IABH’s global network and contributes to international research and innovation aimed at preserving brain health and quality of life throughout ageing.
